I can’t believe I forgot to link to Sex is Fun before this!
Sex is Fun is my favorite sex positive podcast and now that I have a brand new [read: used, in great condition off eBay] iPod I can listen to it all the time everywhere!
Some of my favorite afternoons were when Bear and I lived together and we would both get home from work, turn on Sex is Fun with our [fabulous, amazing, wonderful, you NEED this book] Guide to Getting it On by Paul Joannides and discussing sex and all the proponents thereof. If this isn’t an aftenoon pastime of yours, it is time to start.

One thing I really love about this show is that you don’t have to listen to them in order. There’s a series on College Sex that is great, and they do reviews of books and toys all the time. What’s also really nice is the many different points of views, but all sex positive.
Speaking of sex positive, I did the responsible thing and went to the STD clinic today! So far, I am HIV negative [and symptomless for other things, but I won't know for five days for sure]. If you haven’t been tested this year or since you last had unprotected sex with someone who hasn’t been tested lately, GO! It’s worth the peace of mind.
In order to avoid condomless sex happening again, I went to the local sex shop [the one who interviewed but didn't hire me *pout*] and bought some goodies! I drooled over all the lovely vibes, restraints, and books, but I ended up with:

Spontaneous purchase of “Whoopie Cream” – supposedly enhances arousal? It was at the front counter and I tossed it in.
So I DID try the Whoopie Cream out, but, um, got interrupted when my iPod got delivered. At first, I didn’t really notice any difference, it just made things slightly slicker. But I went to go buy an iPod case and things got very, very wet. Way wetter than normal “I’m walking into a Radio Shack and talking to an awkward employee” wet (which isn’t very wet at all, really). However, I didn’t feel more ‘aroused’ in the sense that I didn’t want to run home and flick away at my clit until I came. I could see this helping sex be less lube-y and more ‘natural’, but not more tingly or explosive.
I look forward to an actual trial. ;P

ONE condoms are great! My favorite design is probably “ONE for the road” over a sexy classic cherry red car. Their XL is really XL and their colored ones are kinda fun too.
But Whoopie Cream? Don’t do it. Seriously, most of that stuff which is supposed to make you more aroused or increase sensation has weird ass chemicals in it. We straight up refuse to sell it.
Interesting – PJ, I know one of the ingredients is l’arginine or something like that, do you know anything about it? I haven’t used it since, but you’re literally an expert here when it comes to toys and I will definitely trust your opinion and leave the goop in the tube.
Matt- I hope you and your wife find something you like! I find that I chance upon the best things when I don’t have a goal in mind and just wander the sex shop on a whim. Although, to be honest, I usually come home with books that way!
The ONE Condoms/Water/Global Ethics (the parent company) are great. Profits from the condom sales go towards HIV education/treatment, and profits from the water sales go to making ‘play pumps’ – roundabouts that pump up groundwater to African villages while children play on them. I went to a lecture from the MD/co-founder or similar position and he was a great speaker too.

They are, but not on the high street I don’t think. Mostly online and specialist eco/ethic stores possibly, I think Student Unions/The Co-Op chain of stores which is relatively mainstream might sell them as the Co-Op is very proud of its eco/ethical stance.
I’m also interested in these condoms – I’ve got one in my wallet waiting to be ‘deployed’ and am intrigued, apparently they’re made of a great new material that transmits heat a lot better than latex.
Hmmm… Good to know. I may stock up before I leave. Does airplane pressure do anything to condoms? I’ve never been laid overseas, so I wouldn’t know.
